Fourth Grade Iceberg Exploration Day!

Our Fourth-grade students took learning outdoors during an “Iceberg Exploration Day,” using the snowy conditions to better understand how icebergs form and change over time.
During the hands-on activity, students observed how large chunks of packed snow can break apart, or “calve,” similar to real icebergs. They lifted, tested and examined their mini “icebergs,” exploring how ice can float because it is less dense than water and why most of an iceberg remains below the surface.
The lesson also highlighted how temperature, weather and changing conditions can affect melting and movement, helping students connect classroom science concepts to real-world environmental processes
