Bridgehampton Students Felt the Beat at Today’s Performance Assembly!

This afternoon, Bridgehampton elementary students gathered in the Bridgehampton gym for an unforgettable live performance by Wula Musicians and Dancers, who brought the energy, rhythm and vibrancy of West African culture to life.
From the moment the musicians entered in staggered formation, the gym was filled with high-energy traditional folkloric rhythms that had students engaged and excited.
Throughout the performance, students learned about the powerful role drums play in West Africa as tools to communicate, celebrate and motivate, while also discovering the names, sounds, construction and cultural significance of instruments including:
- Djembe
- Dundun
- Krin
- Balaphone
The program also featured lively dancing, melodic musical performances and interactive moments, including clapping along, learning a song in an African language and inviting students to join the performers on stage.
The assembly ended with a joyful closing celebration that left the audience smiling, moving and inspired.
Thank you to Wula for sharing such an exciting and meaningful cultural experience with our students and we loved every beat!
