Biology Students Explore Local Ecosystems

Bridgehampton School students took their biology learning outdoors during a recent field trip to the Elizabeth A. Morton National Wildlife Refuge in Sag Harbor. Eighth-grade Regents Biology and 12th-grade AP Biology students explored the local environment through a series of hands-on activities designed to deepen their understanding of ecosystems and biodiversity.
Students had the opportunity to hand-feed wild birds, test soil quality and investigate the native and invasive species that live in the area. The experience gave students a chance to apply concepts from the classroom while observing the interconnectedness of the local ecosystem firsthand.
The trip also provided an opportunity for students across grade levels to learn from one another. The seniors worked alongside the younger students during the soil testing activities, offering guidance and support.
The field trip provided students with a meaningful opportunity to apply their classroom learning in a real-world setting.
