Fourth graders in Mrs. Federico and Ms. Selvaggio’s classes are deepening their understanding of narrative writing through hands-on journaling experiences. During a visit to the Bridgehampton School garden, students engaged their senses as they explored the space, asked thoughtful horticulture questions and even sampled some of what the garden had to offer. 

Inspired by their time in the garden, students wrote and illustrated journal entries focused on descriptive writing. Using sensory details, they transformed their observations and experiences into engaging narratives that brought the garden to life on the page.
